ONE DAY TOUR – WADOWICE. KALWARIA, AUSCHWITZ
This full-day tour includes places related to the childhood of Karol Wojtyla, future Pope John Paul II as well as a visit to the Auschwitz concentration camp.
Wadowice is a birthplace and hometown of Karol Wojtyla, where he was baptized and got his primary and secondary education. His house is now converted to a museum.
Calvary Sanctuary in Kalwaria Zebrzydowska is a Marian Shrine close to Wadowice, which became later a spiritual home for Karol Wojtyła. This beautiful Franciscan Sanctuary with 42 churches and chapels scattered among woods was often visited by Pope John Paul II during his pilgrimages to the homeland.
Auschwitz Concentration Camp was a network of concentration and extermination camps built and operated by Nazi Germany in occupied Poland during World War II.

You will be picked up from your hotel around 8:30 am (exact timing to be agreed).
You will go to Kalwaria Zebrzydowska, a Benedictine Monastery located close to Wadowice. It became one of the places which marked the spiritual life of John Paul II. Before he was even born, his grandfather, as well as his great-grandfather, worked in this beautiful place as guides for pilgrims. The monastery has a way which reminds us of the Via Dolorosa, the way of Christ to Calvary. The Station of the Cross in Kalwaria extends for more than five miles.
It was at the monastery of Kalwaria Zebrzydowska that Pope John Paul II said his motto: “I belong entirely to you, and all that I have is yours. I take you for my all. O Mary, give me your heart”.
After visiting Marian Shrine in Kalwaria, you will be taken to Wadowice. You will visit The Holy Father John Paul II Family Home. It has been a historic house-museum since 1984; it preserves its original structure and houses a collection of objects that belonged to the Wojtyła family. The museum also commemorates Wojtyła’s life and his work in Poland until he left Kraków for the Vatican in 1978.
Afterward, you will have a late lunch (“dinner”). It will take place in a beautiful restaurant in Wadowice, famous for Polish weddings. The dinner will be 3 courses and then you will have an opportunity to try delicious pope’s cake, called “
You will go to Oswiecim to visit Auschwitz Concentration Camp with a professional English speaking guide.
You will be back at your hotel in Krakow around 7 pm – 8 pm.
