Day 1: Lisbon Arrive in Lisbon airport. Meet your local guide for a sightseeing tour. Free time. Transfer to your hotel: dinner and overnight. Lisbon is Portugal’s capital and the hub of a multifaceted area that appeals to different tastes and senses. In the city that has been influenced by many different far-off cultures over time, there is still a village feel in each historic neighborhood

.

Day 2: Lisbon After the breakfast meet your local for a sightseeing including the district of Belem with its Tower, Mosteiro dos Jerónimos, the Baixa Pombalina, Rossio and Praça do Comércio and Alfama. Free afternoon. Lisbon is older than Rome and according to most estimates, around 4 centuries older. It is, in fact, the second oldest European capital after Athens, many historians believing that it was settled by the Phoenicians around 1200 B.C., and who used the excellent transport possibilities offered by the River Tagus. One of the theories for the origin of the name Lisbon is that it came from the term “Allis Ubbo” or “safe harbor” in Phoenician. Dinner in a typical restaurant and overnight at the hotel.

Day 3: Lisbon / Oporto Breakfast. Departure to Oporto, the most important city of the North, which gave its name to Portugal and to one of world famous wines. Sightseeing of the city, Boavista, the Cheese Castle, Miragaia, the Tower of Clérigos, the Avenue of Allies. Then, visit of a Port Wine cellar, where you will taste the famous syrupy wine. Free time. Installation in your hotel. Porto is considered the capital of the north and as the second largest city in Portugal, rightfully so. There are really very few similarities between Porto and Lisbon – they are both near the coast, on the banks and have some fairly daunting hills, but that’s really where it ends. The two cities have a different feel and different charms. Porto is one of the oldest European cities and was registered as a World Heritage Site by UNESCO in 1996, for its historic buildings and outstanding monuments. Dinner in a typical restaurant. Overnight.

Day 4: Oporto / Saint James Breakfast. Departure to Saint James. There meet your local guide: We will visit the Plaza del Obradoiro and the great Cathedral that dominates the town. Its main entrance is two stories above the plaza. After celebrating Mass, we tour the Cathedral with its priceless architecture, statues and religious treasures. Behind the silver and gold main altar are the sarcophagi of St. James and two of his disciples. Christian legends tell that St. James the Elder, one of the twelve apostles of Christ, had traveled widely on the Iberian Peninsula, bringing Christianity to the Celtic peoples. Following his martyrdom in Jerusalem around 44 AD, his relics were supposedly taken back to Spain and enshrined. Due to Roman persecution, however, the early Spanish Christians were forced to abandon the shrine and, with the depopulation of the area following the fall of the Roman Empire, the location of the shrine was forgotten. In 813 or 838 AD, so the legend goes, a hermit led by a beckoning star and celestial music discovered the location of the buried relics. Installation in your hotel, dinner and overnight.

Day 5: Saint James / Coimbra / Fatima Breakfast. Departure to Coimbra, important cultural city (it was the first capital of Portugal) and the religious city: here lived for 58 years Sister Lucia, one the seers of Fatima. With a local guide, Panoramic tour of the city. Stop at Carmel Saint Theresa, then visit the university, and walking tour until the Old Cathedral. The medieval capital of Portugal for over a hundred years, and site of the country’s greatest university for the past five centuries, Coimbra wears its weighty importance in Portuguese history with dignity. Its atmospheric, beautiful historic core cascades down a hillside in a lovely setting on the east bank of the Rio Mondego: it’s a multicolored collage of buildings spanning nearly a millennium. Free time. Continue to Fatima. Installation in your hotel: dinner and overnight.

Day 6: Fatima Breakfast. Meet our guide for HD and tour to Aljustrel (visit the House of Lucia and House of Francisco and Jacinta) and to Valinhos (the place where the Angel appeared). Free lunch. Free afternoon. The Blessed Virgin Mary, the Mother of God, appeared six times to three shepherd children (“The Three Seers”) near the town of Fatima, Portugal between May 13 and October 13, 1917. Appearing to the children, the Blessed Virgin told them that She had been sent by God with a message for every man, woman, and child living in our century. Coming at a time when civilization was torn asunder by war and bloody violence, She promised that Heaven would grant peace to all the world if Her requests for prayer, reparation and consecration were heard and obeyed. Dinner and overnight at the hotel.

Day 7: Fatima / Lisbon Breakfast and departure to Lisbon airport. Departure.
